El ministro de Turismo, Francisco Javier García, reveló que actualmente en el país se construyen 7,300 nuevas habitaciones, lo que definió como la mejor evidencia de la confianza de los inversionistas.

Declaró que esas nuevas habitaciones se irán sumando a la oferta hotelera nacional, que, según dijo, alcanza en estos momentos la mayor ocupación de los últimos años.

García manifestó que el país sigue siendo el destino favorito número uno en toda la región y que esto fue confirmado por la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT), organismo que cita a República Dominicana como ejemplo a seguir.

“República Dominicana es la referencia obligada por el crecimiento sostenido que hemos registrado a nivel turístico, siendo los líderes en toda la región del Caribe y una de la nación que más divisas aporta a su economía”, indicó el funcionario al pronunciar un discurso en la vigésima edición de Expoturismo 2017, que se desarrolla en Santiago hasta este domingo.

Una comunicación del Ministerio de Turismo dice que la exposición de la llamada “industria sin chimeneas”, en la región del Cibao, está dedicada a Francisco Javier García, por su aporte a ese sector.

En el marco de la feria el funcionario fue declarado huésped distinguido por la Alcaldía de Santiago de los Caballeros.

The Tourism Minister, Francisco Javier Garcia, revealed that 7,300 new rooms are currently under construction in the country and defines it as the best proof of investor confidence.

He stated that these new rooms will be added to the country´s available hotel accommodation, which, he is at the highest occupancy rate in recent years.

Garcia said that the country is still the number one favorite destination in the whole region and that this was confirmed by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), which cites the Dominican Republic as an example to follow.

“»The Dominican Republic is the mandatory reference point for the sustained growth we have registered in terms of tourism, being the leader in the entire Caribbean region and one of the nations that contributes most to its economy,» said the official when speaking at the twentieth edition of Expoturismo 2017 which took place in Santiago, D.R.

A press release from the Ministry of Tourism says that this year´s so-called «smokeless industry» Expo is dedicated to Francisco Javier Garcia for his contribution to the industry.

During the event the official was declared distinguished guest by the Mayor’s Office of Santiago.
