Con una inversión de US$779.8 millones se construirán ocho nuevos proyectos de generación de energía con fuentes renovables, que aportarán 361.2 megavatios al sistema a partir de 2018.
Así lo anunció el vicepresidente ejecutivo de la Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales (CDEEE), Rubén Jiménez Bichara, quien resaltó que estas nuevas generadoras, tres solares y cinco eólicas, se sumarán a los parques de generación renovable existentes, que cuentan con capacidad de 194.95 megavatios, y a las 26 nuevas micro centrales hidroeléctricas construidas en zonas aisladas del país.
Resaltó que estos proyectos aumentarían la cantidad de energía generada con fuentes renovables hasta el 20% del parque de generación total del país.
Tanto Jiménez Bichara como el ministro de Energía y Minas, Antonio Isa Conde, afirmaron que el Gobierno tiene un compromiso de apoyar las energías renovables y de diversificar la matriz de generación.
Jiménez Bichara habló durante el lanzamiento del Plan de Apoyo a los Proyectos de Energías Renovables, que en el corto plazo aumentará a 556.21 megavatios la disponibilidad de energía limpia en el Sistema Eléctrico Nacional Interconectado (SENI).
Agregó que luego de que estos proyectos de energía renovable estén listos en 2018, harán un proceso de licitación para nuevos proyectos que aspiran a tener contratos de energía para instalarse en el país.
Las centrales fotovoltaicas que iniciarán operaciones comerciales el próximo año son el Parque Montecristi Solar, en Guayubín, Monte Cristi, con una inversión de US$100 millones de la empresa Montecristi Solar FV,SAS, que aportará 57.96 megavatios.
El parque Fotovoltaico WCG, de la WVG Energy LTD, en Mata de Palma, San Antonio de Guerra, de 50 MW y una inversión de US$110 millones.
Y Canoa Solar, en Barahona, de 25 MW y en el que la empresa Emerald Solar Energy invertirá US$40 millones.
Con el viento como fuente de energía se construyen cinco proyectos, dos en Monte Cristi, dos en Puerto Plata y uno en Baní.
En el Parque Eólico Guanillo (PECASA), en Guanillo, Villa Vásquez, Monte Cristi, se invertirán US$100 millones para generar 50 megavatios. También en Monte Cristi la ICC Power DR Operations/CEPP invertirá US$110 millones en el Parque Eólico Agua Clara, que producirá 50 megavatios.
Los proyectos en Puerto Plata son el Parque Eólico Guzmancito, en Luperón, donde la empresa Poseidón invertirá US$125 millones para producir 48.3 MW; y el Parque Eólico Puerto Plata – Imbert, que con una inversión de US$107.3 millones de la empresa Jasper, producirá 46 megavatios.
En Matanza, Baní, el Grupo Eólico Dominicano invertirá US$87.5 millones en el Parque Eólico Matafongo, que producirá 34 megavatios. Aunque los proyectos se construyen con inversión privada, cuentan con el apoyo de la CDEEE, ya que el desarrollo de este tipo de energía forma parte de su Plan Integral para el sector.

Eight new renewable power plants will be built providing 361.2 megawatts to the system as of 2018, with an investment of US$779.8 million.
The announcement came from the executive vice president of the Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies (CDEEE), Rubén Jiménez Bichara, who emphasized that these new generators, three solar and five wind farms, will be added to the existing renewable energy parks, with a capacity of 194.95 megawatts, and the 26 new micro-hydroelectric plants built in isolated areas of the country.
He stressed that these projects would increase the amount of energy generated from renewable sources to 20% of the total power generated in the country.
Both Jimenez Bichara and the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Isa Conde, affirmed that the Government is committed to supporting renewable energies and diversifying the generation matrix.
Jiménez Bichara spoke during the launch of the Renewable Energy Projects Support Plan which, in the short term, will increase the availability of clean energy to the National Grid (SENI) to 556.21 megawatts. He added that after these renewable energy projects are ready in 2018, there will be a call for tenders from new projects hoping for energy contracts so they can set up in the country.
The photovoltaic plants to begin commercial operations next year are the Montecristi Solar Park in Guayubín, Monte Cristi, with a US$100 million investment by the company Montecristi Solar FV, SAS, which will provide 57.96 megawatts; the 50 MW photovoltaic park owned by WVG Energy LTD, in Mata de Palma, San Antonio de Guerra, with an investment of US$110 million; and 25 MW Canoa Solar, in Barahona, where Emerald Solar Energy will invest US$40 million.
Five wind powered projects are to be built, 2 in Monte Cristi, 2 in Puerto Plata and 1 in Bani.
US$100 million will be invested in the Guanillo Wind Farm (PECASA), in Guanillo, Villa Vásquez, Monte Cristi, to generate 50 megawatts. Also in Monte Cristi, ICC Power DR Operations / CEPP will invest US$110 million in the Agua Clara Wind Farm which will produce 50 megawatts.
The projects in Puerto Plata are the Guzmancito Wind Farm, in Luperon, where Poseidon will invest US$125 million to produce 48.3 MW; And the Puerto Plata – Imbert Wind Farm, which will produce 46 megawatts, with an investment of US$107.3 million from Jasper.
In Matanza, Baní, the Dominican Wind Group will invest US$87.5 million in the Matafongo Wind Farm, which will produce 34 megawatts. Although the projects are built with private investment, they have the support of CDEEE, since the development of this type of energy is part of its Integral Plan for the sector.
