De Marchena participates in the 1st International Tourism Conference

Congreso en El Salvador SANTO DOMINGO- With a conference focused on the tourism development of Dominican Republic, Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, participated in the 1st National Tourism Conference, held to commemorate the International Day of Tourism in El Salvador.

De Marchena, current Vice-President of the Caribbean Hotels Association (CHA) and former President of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (ASONAHORES) participated in the event, following the invitation of Ruben Rochi, Minister of Tourism of El Salvador.

De Marchena Kaluche presented a paper called “Tourism: A chance for development. The experience of Dominican Republic¨. The Conference was also visited by international guests/speakers, including Randy Morfen, President of Southeastern University in Louisiana, Sofía Aristizabal, President of the Confederation of Professional Conference Organizers of Latin America, and Arturo Gamboa, President of the Mexican National Council of Business Tourism.

In his paper, De Marchena highlighted the initiative of the Government of El Salvador that gives priority to tourism as a State policy and provides a legal framework by means of the General Tourism Law recently passed, that states the policies to be followed through the Tourist development plan for El Salvador 2014.

De Marchena also participated, along with the Minister of Tourism of El Salvador, in the opening act of the Business Exhibition, and in a press conference where the authorities and international guests answered the questions of the local and international press.

Among the special guests there was the regional representative of the OMT, Marco Balarezo.

De Marchena invited once again the Minister of Tourism, Rubén Rochi, to visit Dominican Republic with a group of San Salvador entrepreneurs in the context of the DR CAFTA Agreement, so as to promote investments from citizens of both countries in Central America and Dominican Republic.
